Allen is home to a small port offering ferry connections to the Luzon area and is little more than a transport hub into Northern Samar.
Although Allen is not a tourist hotspot, there are a handful of bars and restaurants for visitors to try out. There is limited accommodation and certainly no five-star resorts to choose from and the region is primarily used as a commercial gateway into Luzon.
Allen is a major trading place between Samar and Legaspi and Cebu and Manila, and the landscape in Allen is full of farmland specializing mainly in coconuts, abaca, rice and root crops. There is a constant procession of boats and ferries coming in and out of Allen, and the town is a hive of activity.
