The city of Alaminos lies in the north of the Philippines. It is continuingly growing and lies at the center of finance, education and industry for the province.
It is home to the first national park of the Philippines, the Hundred Islands National Park. The park is a collection of 124 small islands spread over seven square miles. Originally the islands was actually coral but over thousands of years the lowering sea levels has uncovered them and now they are the same as any other island.
There are only three islands that have been developed for tourists; Quezon Island is the base to stay at. From here you can enjoy snorkeling or scuba diving in the crystal clear waters to explore the coral reefs around. Many tourists stretch out on the beach or go island hopping and discover all the wonders on offer.
Alaminos city itself does not have much to offer for the tourist. You can dine in beachside pubs on freshly caught seafood or maybe tour around the local stalls looking at and buying the arts and crafts on sale.
Getting There & Away
Manila International Airport is located 150 miles southeast of Alaminos and is the nearest international airport. Buses run all day from here up to Alaminos City and take a maximum of 5 hours’ journey time, and hiring a car and driving yourself will take about 3 hours.
