This small municipality is located in Mindoro Oriental and as it’s the destination at which ferries arrive from Batangas in Luzon, it’s the first stopping off point for many visitors holidaying in the province.

The town is by no means the most happening place in Mindoro Oriental and for most tourists it’s a destination overlooked in favor of Puerta Galera, the province’s most popular vacation resort. That said, however, it’s got some lovely beaches and as a quiet destination is likely to appeal to anyone in pursuit of peace and tranquility.

Waterfalls are among the town’s best-known visual attractions but there are also several caves worth visiting if you have a penchant for spelunking. Time your visit right and you can be in the town for lively festivals such as the Feast of San Rafael Archangel, a celebration of Abra De Ilog’s patron saint.

Getting There & Away

After flying into Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, visitors can take a bus to Batangas pier (3 hours) then a ferry direct to the pier at Abra De Ilog (3 hours). Alternatively it is possible to get a pumpboat from Puerto Galera (2 hours).
