Hi, I’m Arthur and I run this little corner of the web. I currently make my home in America, but lived in Asia and traveled around the world for a decade.
This little site started way back in the early days of the Internet and has gone through many revisions, revivals and transformations. It originally started out as a site called crazydogtravel.com back before 2000 (see below for where that name came from). It has gone through several revivals and a complete transformation since then.
The vision is to create the site that I always wanted as a traveler when I was planning my own trips. Packed with useful information that will allow a novice traveler to start traveling around the world. Though cliche: A site made by travelers, for travelers.
Always remember, this site is for you. We ask that you help us build a better site! We are constantly refining our site, developing new resources and expanding our destination coverage in order to serve you better.
TravelDojo is always growing - we try to add as much content as quickly as we can. However, we are a small shop so please be patient. If you like what we are doing, or have suggestions for improving the site then please let us know. In any event we hope you enjoy what we have created.

Way back in 1994, during a trip through Asia, a few of us were walking the backroads of a less wealthy section of Kyoto, Japan. As we strolled down one particularly filthy street, we glanced ahead and noticed a strange form moving towards us. As we continued walking down the street, we stared ahead and wondered what this creature was. As we approached the figure, we found it to be a dog. But this was no ordinary dog. With one eye, three legs, and wearing a diaper, this poor animal was literally dragging itself around the streets. From that point on, this miserable animal was forever referred to as “the Crazy Dog”. The name just kind of stuck. Hey…you wanted to know!
