Tampa Travel Guide

The Port of Tampa is situated to the south of downtown Tampa in one of the largest metropolitan areas of the state of Florida. It is Florida’s largest port, handling hundreds of thousands of cruise passengers and millions of tons of cargo a year.

There are half a dozen cruise terminals at the port, with Terminal 6 having 24-hour access and extensive facilities. The port is served by three cruise lines: Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, and Holland America. Cruises of the Western Caribbean range in length from four days to two weeks, with the seven-day cruises being particularly popular.

The revitalized Channelside complex is at the port and has good shopping and eating options. There are also many class hotels here, as well as an IMAX cinema and other family-friendly attractions such as the Florida Aquarium. You can also be at some of Tampa’s star attractions within minutes of the port and Channelside, including the Busch Gardens theme park and the Raymond James Stadium.

In addition to all this are many beautiful beaches to head to, and other popular towns and cities in the region.

Getting there

The port of Tampa is a few miles to the southwest of downtown Tampa and due south of Tampa International Airport. It is served by an expressway from downtown, while taxis and shuttles from the airport do not need to go through downtown to get here. The main cab firms in town are Tampa Bay Cab and United Cab and they take around 30 minutes to reach the port from the airport.
