Canastota Travel Guide

The small village of Canastota is situated within the Town of Lenox in Madison County, New York. The area is full of rich traditions, with all the modern facilities visitors have come to expect. A thriving industry is complemented by fine dining, great shopping and easy access to a host of leisure activities.

The region around Canastota is home to plenty of recreational and leisure choices. Outdoor activities are just a short hop away and include skiing, boating, camping, hunting, trail riding and fishing. Indeed, some of the finest fishing in the state can be found at Oneida Lake, with an abundance of bass, perch and bullhead.

In winter, snowmobile fans have a virtual wonderland at their feet, with never-ending tracks fanning out in all directions and easily accessible from a host of entrance points. Family fun is also provided for, with a museum, open-air swimming pool, bowling alley and ballparks.

Highlights

Boxing Hall of Fame: was established in honor of boxing’s greats and documents their achievement, while providing visitors with an insight into this popular sport.

Canastota Public Library: was founded in 1896 and the adjacent Carnegie Building opened in 1903, today it functions as a focal point for the community.
